In today’s commercially technical era, it is very difficult to imagine the world of banking without internet banking. A lot of people today think that trend of sending Money Orders have vanished completely. However, this conventional trend still claims a place in our finances. A number of people still prefer going to a post office in order to send Money Orders as a way of sending money to their near and dear ones. Money Orders are just like personal cheques, except for the fact that they are prepaid and are hence a safer option.

How to send a Money Order

It is quite simple to send a Money Order. The steps for the same are given below:

  1. Buy a Money order: One can buy a Money Order from a post office, a bank or a credit union. A small fee is charged, apart from the amount to be sent.
  2. Fill the form: One is required to fill up all the prerequisites in the money order form and submit it to the bank or post office after having signed it.
  3. Don’t forget the receipt: After having submitted the complete form, one will be given a receipt. This receipt should be kept safely as a proof of the payment.
  4. Tracking your money order: The receipt one receives has a tracking number which can be used to track the order. This tracking number will be used for any inquiry.

Money Orders may seem like an out dated option in this digital world, they still have their value and use!

  1. I didn’t know what money order was and i don’t think we have or had that kind of system in my country. It sounds old fashioned but as the technology take over there’s still some people that likes to do things in the traditional way like this or going to be bank in the first place.

  2. I think people are more afraid of money orders than online banking these days due to the scams that go on with them. There are certain financial institutions that have a bad reputation when it comes to buying and issuing money orders… but these can be simple enough - especially for older people who have no experience or knowledge when it comes to things on the internet.

  3. Oh! Money order remains a nostalgic memory in me. I remember those days when my father used to send money orders to home and we eagerly wait for that each month. Now, that practice has been replaced by new technologies. Now money order is like a landline between mobile phones!
