Certified Gold Coin - For Quality and Quantity

Certified gold coins are those that assure the owner about the quality of gold that he owns. These coins are sold along with an Assay certificate which gives the details of the coins. The quantity and quality of the gold coin is mentioned in it. Quality here refers to the percentage of purity of gold in the coin.

Worth Investing

Nowadays, people generally opt to purchase certified gold coins as people are aware of their inability to truly judge a gold coin and the certificate from an expert or the recognized authority gives them the knowledge of what they are purchasing. With the certificate, one can be sure that the coin is what the seller claims it to be. In general, the cost of certified gold coins is higher than that of coins which does not carry any assay certificate. The reason for this is but obvious and the assurance is worth any extra cost.

In India BIS issues a hallmark which consists of 5 parameters:

  • BIS emblem
  • The Fineness number
  • The symbol of the Assaying and Hallmarking centre
  • The identification mark of the jeweler who has procured it
  • The year in which it was marked.

With the assurance, investments in certified gold coins have increased manifold.

  1. Gold, gold, gold! My mother always told me it was a good investment, but I thought she was talking about jewellery and gold bars.
Gold coins are a great investment too, apparently! I can imagine having a chest of gold coins like a pirate (all certified of course) and feeling so much richer for it 🙂 think: some of these gold coins may not only be valuable for the gold within, but for their age and antiquity too 🙂 🙂

  2. This article is interesting. I had hoped it was in more detail. I am very curious about the gold coins. I would have liked to know more about the five parameters. They might be somewhat obvious, but to get a good idea of what the writer was indicating more description would be helpful.
